The guests at Finncon 2010 are interesting people from Finland and abroad.
Writer Ellen Kushner comes from the United States. Kushner is known as a master of fantasy, performer, radio host, teacher, and lecturer. Her works have won the Locus, World Fantasy Award, and Mythopoeic Award, among others. Her novel Thomas the Rhymer was published in Finnish last year [Thomas Riiminiekka].
Pat Cadigan is an American writer currently based in London. She is known for her cyberpunk books, but her works also combine science fiction, fantasy, horror, and detective novels. Cadigan is a writer, journalist, teacher, and science fiction advocate. Her novels have won the Arthur C. Clarke Award twice.
The Finnish Guest of Honour is writer Sari Peltoniemi. Peltoniemi has written several short stories, as well as books for children and young adults. She has been nominated for the Finlandia Junior Award, and in 2002 she won the Kuvastaja Award, granted by the Finnish Tolkien Society.
Our Fan Guest of Honour is Liisa Rantalaiho from Tampere. In fandom circles, Rantalaiho is known as a founding member of Spektre, a long-time judge of the Portti short story competition and a book reviewer for Portti magazine, as well as a writer and performer of filk songs. The Finnish Science Fiction Writers Association awarded her with the Cosmos Pen Award in 2006 for her groundbreaking work as an advocate of Finnish science fiction literature.
